Fox In Socks

Noodles' first AFO's ( stands for ankle-foot-orthotic) came in this week and we went in yesterday to make sure there weren't any problems with the fit and finish.  Wearing them on a daily basis is supposed to help LJ have better balance and promote more control around his pudgy little ankle.  The picture above is not a ringing endorsement but we'll keep trying them over the next couple of weeks.  Here are a few pictures that Nate stealthily took whilst shoe shopping afterwards- it turns out we need a shoe 2.5x his regular size....and we have to take out the insoles!  Even still, we have to jam his chubby tootsers into the shoes like stuffed sausages!  Two new pairs of shoes and three pairs of new socks too-we were suckered into these "anti-microbial, no-seam" socks to help keep the hard edges of the orthotics from cutting into his lower cankle (stands for calf-ankle). There were about twenty other photos of random kiddos with their mommy shopping for shoes....as well as pix of Nate's own new shoes....but I didn't want to bore you all!

  1. I usually recommend that parents take just the braces (not the child) and try shoes on the braces. Only shoes that the insoles pull-out easily, of course. Hang in there. Barbara

  2. Go Lewis Go! I know it will be quite an adjustment but I bet once he sees that it helps him to move faster, he'll be a fan.

We miss you in HBOT and I'm so glad I'll be able to still "see" Lewis in the blog. He's too cute and I enjoyed his smiles!
